Follow WAEPAL – Object to A944 Drive-thru proposals and further threat to our green space and infrastructure

two drive through fast food outlets and one additional restaurant unit in the field adjacent to Ardene House Veterinary Hospital on the north side of the A944.  The applicants, Aurora Planning, have used the approval of the stadium (and we assume the subsequent need for sustenance for the fans having to travel 7 miles out of town) as a justification for the plans.  The transport assessment shows there to be an anticipated 5,000 cars on a Saturday and Sunday!   They also make provision for people cycling and anticipate that people will cycle from Bieldside and Bucksburn! Like the transport assessment for Kingsford, which suggests that 6,000 people will arrive by bus, we have another transport assessment written by the Brothers Grimm. The threat to the green belt and green space around the communities of West Aberdeen is significant and the A944 corridor is subject to multiple development proposals.  These drive-thru outlets are another “gate-way” application, an attempt by developers to get a further foothold on greenspace in order to develop the north and south sides of the A944 from Kingswells to Westhill. You have just a few days to object to this application and we strongly encourage you to do so. The development will:

  • Have a negative impact on the green space between the communities of Westhill and Kingswells.
  • Will set a precedent for development on the A944 corridor
  • Will place even more stress on the road infrastructure around Westhill and Kingwells
Earlier this year we set up a charity called West Aberdeen Environmental Protection Limited (WAEPAL).  This charity will seek to defend the green space and green belt areas around our communities in West Aberdeen. WAEPAL will be objecting to this drive-through application, and we urge you to do the same.
